GENERAL INFORMATION
Who Qualifies to Attend the Retreat?: We accept most people that wish to improve their overall quality of life and well-being, but we want to ensure that you are fully able to travel and participate comfortably in our workshops. All individuals must be able to perform regular tasks without assistance, and are required to take care of their own self-care and general needs such as bathing, eating, drinking, dressing, going to the restroom, as well as going up and down stairs (for 2nd floor accommodations), and must be able to administer any medications you are recommended to take by your doctor or health care provider. Personal attendants and health care providers are welcome to accompany you, but they are required to pay the full workshop fees which include bed, meals and entry to workshops.
Start/Finish Time: The Grace of Angels' Cancer Retreat - Restorative Support & Wellness officially starts with Registration & Check in at 9:00am on Saturday, May 17th and ends at 4:30pm on Sunday, May 18th. There is much to do, so please do your best to arrive promptly.
Travel: Please refer to www.mountedenretreat.com for location and directions. We welcome out of state visitors, but fees and arrangements for getting to and from Mount Eden are the responsibility of the attendee and are not included in the Retreat fees. If you are travelling long distance and you need assistance, please contact the program facilitator, Tracey Revak at [email protected]. Early arrivals and extended stays are based upon the availability of Mount Eden.
Dress Code: We encourage you to be comfortable! Grace of Angels cancer support retreats are usually held during the milder months when temperatures are not too hot or too cold; however, Mother Nature is often unpredictable. Sweaters or light coats and umbrellas are recommended for spring retreats and warmer garb for fall workshops. Remember you can always take off a layer! For some workshops you will be reclining on floor mats, so dress is casual & comfortable throughout the Retreat. You are welcome to bring hiking boots if you plan to explore the grounds or hike to the Shrine. While we hope for honesty and integrity, there are no locks or safes, so please leave valuables at home.
Local: The agenda is rather full so we do not recommend leaving the Retreat; however, if you extend your stay, the closest town is Washington NJ, approx. 10 minutes by car from Mount Eden. Washington is a small town that offers a variety of shops & antiques. Kathy’s Kove has vintage & antique finds, www.kathyskove.com , and Allies Cupcakery & Café offers a yummy lunch or a sweet treat! www.alliescupcakery.com.
Medical Records: To ensure the best possible care in the event of an emergency, we require the name and phone number(s) of your treating physician(s). Copies of medical records including diagnosis, notable test results, and any pertinent personal or medical information will allow local nurses, physicians and EMT’s to assist you more efficiently.
Medical Facilities: This program is held at the Mount Eden Retreat which is approximately 10 miles from the nearest town. It is not a hospital or advanced care facility and there are no medical staff on site. It does not have handicap accessibility, however, workshops are held on the ground level, and there are guest rooms located on the ground floor as well as 2nd floor accommodations. Please advise us on your registration form if you prefer accommodations on the 1st floor. The nearest hospital is St. Luke’s Warren Hospital, located at 185 Roseberry Street, Phillipsburg, NJ 08865
It is approximately 20 minutes travel time by car without traffic from Mount Eden.
Internet & Phone Service: Internet service is not available in most places at the retreat; however, hot spots can be obtained in certain areas. Verizon is the local cell phone provider.
Fees On Site: Fees for the Retreat must be paid for in full prior to your arrival. We accept AX, DS, MC & VI, as well as PayPal. Retreat fees includes on site, scheduled workshops, overnight accommodations, meals and daily snacks. Personal/private sessions with on-site practitioners are not included in the retreat fee. We will have the Square Card Reader available as well and hope to be able to accommodate credit card sales, but service is sketchy out at the Retreat. Some vendors may require cash payment.
Gift Shop: Grace of Angels will have a gift shop open which attendees are welcome to frequent. We encourage you to do so before, after or between workshops so you do not miss the important information and experiences that you came for.
